My story

Hi, I'm Taj.

When I was in first grade, school felt completely overwhelming. I was constantly failing assignments, struggling to understand what was being taught, and frequently getting in trouble during class. Because I couldn't keep up, I genuinely believed I was stupid and a failure. Almost every single day ended the same way: coming home from school in tears.

The turning point

Fortunately, my first-grade teacher saw what I couldn't see yet. She supported me relentlessly and helped my family realize that what I was experiencing wasn't a lack of effort—it was ADHD and Dyslexia. Getting a formal diagnosis was the turning point.

Managing both diagnoses took time and trial

  • Managing ADHD

Finding the right medication helped bring my focus and impulsivity down to a manageable level so I could actually process what was happening around me.

  • Overcoming Dyslexia

My parents and teacher helped me try several different specialists, but nothing seemed to click. Everything changed when I started working with my school's learning specialist. She taught me brand-new ways to approach reading and comprehend complex topics.

It required an immense amount of time, patience, and hard work. But that dedication paid off.

Where I am now

Today, I am a sophomore at Brophy College Prep taking advanced classes, earning straight A's, and my recent re-testing showed that my dyslexia is practically undetectable.

Why this site exists

Looking back, I know how fortunate I was. I had a supportive family, dedicated teachers, and access to a school with specialized resources. But I also know that so many students with ADHD and Dyslexia aren't given those same opportunities simply because those resources are out of reach or unaffordable.

I created this website to bridge that gap. My goal is to share the strategies, tools, and insights I learned along the way so that any student—regardless of their background or resources—can get the support they need to succeed in school and in life.

What I want every teacher to know

  • 1. We're trying harder than you can see.
  • 2. Small changes make huge differences.
  • 3. Believing in us matters more than any tool.
